A 3 day medical follow-up visit to KHF
It was a joyous moment for the Kanu Heart foundation (KHF) beneficiaries operated under the Salam centre for Cardiac Surgery –Emergency NGO, Khartoum Sudan as the centre visited the KHF for a 3 day medical follow-up.
Dr Luca Rolla and Dr Sophia Redalli who were sent by the Salam Centre arrived at the Int’l Airport Lagos on Friday March 10, 2017 in the afternoon.
Early as 6:30 am on Saturday, the KHF office at Ikeja was already congested with beneficiaries from different States of the federation. The follow-up commenced at about 8:00 am.
13 beneficiaries were screened and drugs were given to those that still need therapy while some were asked to stop medication. They were also counseled by the doctors. The exercise lasted till 8:00pm.
Likewise on Sunday march 12, 2017, 6 beneficiaries were attended to and drugs were also given to them.
On Monday March 13, 2017, the doctors entertained 8 new patients after which Dr Luca gave them the hard copies of their ECG/Echo reports and also counseled them.
According to Dr Luca, those who need open heart surgery will be notified later as the Cardiac Surgeons that will determine them for surgery are coming to the Salam Centre in November this year.
Dr Luca further stated that selected patients after the visit of the Cardiac surgeons to the Salam Centre Khartoum Sudan shall be operated free of charge as the Salam Centre for cardiac surgery – EMERGENCY NGO will fit their bills.
On the side of the beneficiaries, the follow-up turned out to a social event as those who have not seen themselves after their surgery for a very long time were happy to meet themselves. It was a uniting moments for them as they exchanged their contact numbers and addresses.
19 beneficiaries and 8 new patients totaling 27 were attended to during the 3 day medical mission of the Salam Centre to KHF Nigeria.
